Reading. Journal 2020-05-11 Aubrey came to her understanding of the “power of YET” by reading Dr. Carol Dweck’s work on growth mindset. It occurred to me that the process Aubrey was engaging in as we continued to text back and forth was itself rich with the power of YET. Her students hadn’t mastered comprehending nonfiction text YET. 2015-06-23 "Not yet" instead of "I failed" puts you on a learning curve and a path into the future. It breaks the obsession with 'now'"I am a failure".

Instead of giving failing grades to those who did not pass, the school simply wrote “not yet” on a student’s report card.

But if you get the grade “Not Yet” you understand that you’re on a learning curve. It gives you a path into the future. If you have or have had a child in grade school you’ve likely heard of Professor Carol Dweck. Or, at least, I hope you have.
